South Dakota Contest Club
From Matt (K7BG) and Todd (WD0T), “We thought it might be fun to see if we could get interest in a statewide contest club. If nothing else, it would be fun to fill in the CLUB space with a common name in our logging software so we can compete on a club level with other contest clubs in the medium club category. While there are mileage limits in the ARRL club rules, those mileage limits are waved if we all live and operate within the same ARRL section. That means all operators who live and operate within the state can count their scores toward a common club total.
So, we are in the process of getting an ARRL affiliated club set up for this purpose and wondered who may be interested? We just thought it would be a little added fun in addition to our regular contesting activities. I was inspired by the SD license plate to use the name Great Places Contest Club. We thought this would have statewide appeal. The name could be changed if club members wanted another name.
No dues are anticipated unless members see the need to do so and this club would not compete with other local radio club activities since this club would be primarily designed around contesting.
More to come.
